This month’s Hub feature shines the spotlight on 12-year-old footballer Ruby Yellop, a talented young player whose dedication, ability and commitment to development continue to drive her exciting football journey.

Ruby plays as a No.10/striker and is currently performing at U14 performance squad level, despite being just 12 years old. Her football pathway has seen her consistently challenge herself, playing against older age groups and developing through high-level environments.

Ruby currently trains and plays within the Ipswich Town FC pathway, trialing for the U14 Performance Squad, while also representing Capel Panthers U14 and Debenham FC U12 Mixed. She attends Westbourne Academy in Year 7 and continues to balance her education alongside the demands of a growing football schedule.

Ruby’s progression has been impressive. Starting football at the age of seven, she joined the Ipswich Town ATC U10 programme while playing two years up, beginning a journey that has seen her progress through the club’s pathway over the last five seasons. She has also previously played for Colchester United ETC and earned an Arsenal trial at U10 level, where she was invited back for a second trial before travel commitments made the pathway difficult to continue.

Her recent achievements highlight the level of performance she is reaching. Ruby was part of the Ipswich Town U12 ETC squad that became Regional Futsal Champions in 2026, while also helping Debenham FC U12 Mixed become 25/26 league winners in a boys’ league environment. During that season, Ruby finished with an outstanding 33 goals and 16 assists, earning the Golden Boot award.

At Capel Panthers U13 Girls, where she played a year above her age group, Ruby helped the team achieve an impressive SGWFL League and Cup double in the 25/26 season. She finished the campaign with 32 goals and 13 assists, collecting both the Golden Boot and Playmaker awards.

Her previous season with Capel Panthers U12 also brought success, winning the SGWFL League title, reaching the League Cup final and being recognised with the Managers’ Player of the Year award.

Across the last two seasons, Ruby has continued to compete successfully in tournaments, including winners’ performances at the Harrod Cup, Loddon Tournament, Stowupland U11 Tournament, Beccles Tournament and Kesgrave Tournament, alongside school and regional achievements including the School County Cup victory in 2024.

Ruby’s development is supported by a strong commitment to training and performance. Her weekly schedule includes Ipswich Town Performance Squad training on Tuesdays, combining 30 minutes of strength and conditioning with 60 minutes of technical ball work; grassroots training on Thursdays; weekend match commitments; and regular school PE sessions.

This approach reflects the importance of developing young players beyond technical ability alone. Ruby benefits from The Premier Hub Inner Circle, which provides a valuable environment where footballers can integrate the BIG3 pillars of development: strength and conditioning, sports nutrition, and mental skills, alongside their technical, tactical, and competitive football schedules.

For players like Ruby, this integrated approach helps create a complete development pathway, supporting physical preparation, fueling performance, building confidence, and developing the mindset required to progress within the game.

The Hub Sport Online programme also plays an important role in supporting the wider football community, helping coaches and football parents understand the key areas of player development. The programme allows an entire team to access the complete Hub curriculum from home, including sports science and physiology education, giving players and support networks the knowledge to complement their football training.

Looking ahead, Ruby’s ambitions remain focused on continuing to enjoy the sport she loves while striving towards the highest levels of the game. Her dream is to secure a professional contract and represent England at the top level.

With her technical ability, work ethic, determination, and passion for football, Ruby is a special young talent who continues to build the foundations for an exciting future.

The Hub training, support and education is delivered from multiple sites, by The Hub team of experts.
